A novel framework for seismic risk assessment of structures

Seismic risk assessment of new and existing structures has a long history, which is based on the development specific methods for seismic hazard vulnerability analyses. Performance-based earthquake engineering natural evolution integration all these aspects that nowadays implemented in several precodes. However, some critical are not yet completely clarified. As matter fact, analysis suffers so-called record-to-record variability, usually controlled through different parameters used as intensity measures (IMs), whose significance still under discussion. Moreover, this variability represents an additional source uncertainty, added to dispersion derived from ground motion prediction equation (GMPE), leading overconservatism. For reasons, present paper aims propose novel framework structures, found idea control response evaluating curves without taking into account randomness (ε) GMPE, instead transferred fragility curves. These latter built by using groups accelerograms, median 84% fractile spectra fit well, return periods, uniform ε= 0 1, respectively. purpose, search algorithm selecting records formulated.
